Cambridge Minor Baseball Association (CMBA) follows the below processes regarding import players on Cambridge teams.

Import players are considered players who have a home address outside of the Cambridge city limits or Regional area within our boundaries.

Import Player Limitations

 

For 8U – teams are not permitted to roster any import players unless approved by exception by the Vice President of Travel operations, as outlined below, for extenuating circumstances

For 9U  - teams are permitted to roster a maximum of 1 import player

For 10U – teams are permitted to roster a maximum of 2 import players

For 11U - 13U – teams are permitted to roster a maximum of 3 import players

For 14U – 18U – teams are permitted to roster a maximum of 4 import players

For all teams – a minimum of 9 “Cambridge” players must be rostered to the team.

All imports attending tryouts from outside of Cambridge must provide the appropriate release documents from their home center before signing the Intent to Play.

Exceptions

 

Exceptions to the above limitations may be considered in extenuating circumstances. For example, if a team does not have enough players to roster a team, the Vice President of Travel operations may approve additional import players.

EBLO

Import Policies for EBLO Team:  Cambridge Import policies noted above will only apply to teams that are not participating in the EBLO.

1) EBLO Teams in Cambridge will Follow OBA Rules: EBLO teams will adhere to the roster rules outlined in SECTION RP1.14 of the 2024 Rep Procedures and Playing Rules of the OBA. These rules include:

1. A)       Age and Release Requirements:Players aged 15U or older who wish to play in Cambridge EBLO program do not need a release from their local affiliates or associations to play Cambridge EBLO.
2. B)       15U Teams with Multiple 14U Players:15U teams that intend to have more than 2 14U-aged players on their roster must obtain releases from both the Local Association and, where required, the Affiliated Association. This requirement applies to all players joining such a team, regardless of the provisions in RP1.14 p). (There is no limit to underaged players allowed to participate in EBLO programs as long as the above requirements are met)

 

2) CMBA EBLO Teams are required to roster at least 4 local players on their EBLO roster

Exceptions to EBLO Roster Rules:

• 1a) Skill-Based Player Imports: If an EBLO team lacks a sufficient number of "high" level elite players or has insufficient players to field a competitive EBLO team; the EBLO Director may approve the addition of import players to the roster and limits of the local CMBA player requirements.
